Strengthening the Future of Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR)

In collaboration with the DHHS/Office Research Integrity, Office of Minority Health, Office of the Regional Health Administrator Region IV, Office of Human Research Protections, Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance, Center for Community Health and Health Equity, Critical Learning Systems, Inc., the Meharry Vanderbilt Alliance Community Engaged Research Core, National Partnership for Action (NPA), Nashville Health Disparity Coalition, Progreso Community Center, Tennessee State University, Healthy Kids & Teens, Inc. and CampGetFit Foundation, Phase I stakeholders throughout the region, and others.

Educational Objectives:

At the end of this conference the participants should be able to:

  • Discuss transparency and efficiencies to become better researchers and create sustainable partnerships
  • Discuss surveillance and other vigilant processes to identify health risks and become proactive in advocacy and advancement of policy agendas that focus on risk reduction as it relates to health disparities.
  • Describe methods to foster integration among community partnerships that impact health outcomes
  • Discuss opportunities that CBPR and the National Partnership for Action (NPA) present to improve health outcomes and eliminate disparities and provide strategies for implementing a step-wise approach to CBPR
  • Describe CBPR and NPA tools that can be used in developing participatory evaluation strategies,  working in trans-cultural situations, and juggling multiple partners
  • Describe networking opportunities for CBPR and NPA stakeholders who are engaged in, or interested in conducting, community-based participatory research
